Indian Foreign Minister will arrive in the country today

In order to further strengthen Sri-Lankan-Indian relations, Indian Foreign Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar will arrive in the country today for a two-day official visit.

He is the first foreign dignitary to visit Sri Lanka since Anura Kumara Dissanayake assumed the presidency. Bilateral discussions are scheduled to take place between President Dissanayake and the Indian Foreign Minister.

Additionally, Jaishankar is expected to meet with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya and Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath for further discussions.

The talks will focus on on-going Indian projects in Sri Lanka and regional cooperation. Discussions are also expected to cover strategic issues, including maritime security and economic collaboration. Jaishankar had previously met with Anura Kumara Dissanayake in New Delhi before his appointment as president.
