The acceptance of nominations for the parliamentary general election begins today.

The acceptance of nominations for the parliamentary general election begins today. District election officials and assistant election officers will collect nominations at the district secretariat offices.

The election commission states that nominations can be submitted until 12:00 PM on the 11^th. The deadline for depositing the election deposit money for candidates will also be 12:00 PM on the 11^th.

According to the election commission, 37 parties have already deposited their deposit. A significant number of independent groups have deposited their money from the districts of Batticaloa, Jaffna, Digamadulla and Colombo.

Applications for postal voting are currently being accepted. These applications can be submitted until 12:00 PM on Tuesday. The 2024 general election is scheduled to be held on the 14^th of next month.
