China is ready to fulfil an effective role in Sri Lanka.

Spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry Lin Jian says that China is ready to fulfil an effective role in achieving stable economic and social development in Sri Lanka, while respecting the country’s sovereignty and not interfering in its internal affairs.

He stated that China has been a friend to Sri Lanka for a long time. Wishing the new president well, he expressed hope for increased cooperation between the two countries in development strategies moving forward.

China also indicated its readiness to work together with the new government’s administration.
