Foreign Minister has requested Saudi Arabia.
Foreign Minister Wijitha Herath has requested Saudi Arabia to become a strong partner in the development processes in Sri Lanka. He highlighted opportunities for investment in areas such as the Hambantota Technology Park, the apparel and pharmaceutical sectors, as well as tourism.
There is potential for collaboration at locations including Madakalapu, the Colombo Port City, and the Hambantota Port Zone. He made these remarks during a recent event marking Saudi National Day.
The Minister also acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s unwavering support for Sri Lanka at the United Nations Human Rights Council. Since 1981, the Saudi fund has provided financing for water, energy, health, infrastructure, and education projects, and he expressed his gratitude for this support.
Saudi Arabia has been active in providing employment opportunities for a large number of Sri Lankans, with the current number of workers in the country exceeding 200,000.
Visa-free access to Saudi Arabia has also been granted for Sri Lankans, valid for six months. Minister Herath noted that Saudi citizens can come to Sri Lanka to experience the island’s ancient history, culture, and natural beauty.
