Minister Vijitha Herath says that there will definitely be a salary increase for the government employees from next year.

Necessary measures have been taken to pay the remaining arrears of the allowance given by the previous government to the government employees from the next month of five thousand rupees each.

The former president said that money has been set aside to increase government salaries from next January, but he has not received any report that money is available from the treasury.

The minister was speaking at the press conference held in Colombo yesterday to inform the decision of the cabinet. Accordingly, he stated that the former president has misled public servants as the finance minister.

Minister Vijitha Herath says that the government has not received any loan from any foreign country or institution.

The minister strongly denies reports that the government has taken loans and printed money. According to the current economic situation in the country, it is impossible to print money at all.

The minister also stated that there is no need to print money.
