TikTok, saying the platform is addictive and harms children.
More than a dozen U.S. states and Washington, D.C., have filed lawsuits against TikTok, accusing the platform of harming children’s mental health by designing its app to be addictive.
The lawsuits stem from a national investigation launched in March 2022, led by a bipartisan coalition of state attorneys general, including those from New York, California, and New Jersey.
The lawsuits claim that TikTok’s algorithm, which curates content for users, is intentionally designed to keep children hooked on the app.
