Every child in Sri Lanka achieves proficiency in the English language.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe stated that a program will be initiated to ensure that every child in Sri Lanka achieves proficiency in the English language within the next 10 years.
He mentioned that this will be achieved through the “English for All” initiative. Recalling his earlier efforts as Minister of Education when he introduced this proposal through the Education White Paper, the President noted that the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna opposed the move at that time. He added that if the program had been implemented then, the country would not be facing issues with English language proficiency today.
President Wickremesinghe made these remarks in response to a question raised by a young individual after a gathering with the people of Malwana.
He emphasized his commitment to creating a bright future for Generation Z and urged the youth not to fall victim to the false promises and political motives of Sajith Premadasa and Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
