Election campaign activities will conclude at midnight tonight.

All campaign activities related to the presidential election will conclude at midnight tonight. Afterward, no political party, candidate, or supporter will be allowed to engage in any campaigning.

The police have the authority to remove any stickers or promotional materials on public or private vehicles that promote candidates or parties.

A six-week period was provided for election campaigning, and according to election law, all campaign activities must stop 48 hours before the election day.

The police stated that strict action will be taken against anyone who violates this rule during the silent period.

The final rallies of the presidential candidates will be held today. The final rally of President Ranil Wickremesinghe will take place at the Kosgas Junction in Grandpass,

Colombo. Sajith Premadasa’s final rally is planned to be held in Maradana, Colombo, while Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s rally is scheduled for this evening at the Ananda Samarakoon Outdoor Theater in Nugegoda.

Namal Rajapaksa’s final rally will be held at the Piliyandala Municipal Grounds. Police Media Spokesman, Deputy Inspector General Nihal Thalduwa, said that a special security plan has been implemented for the final rallies of the presidential candidates.

Foreign observers who arrived in the country to monitor the presidential election are set to begin their observation work in various districts starting today.

The observers include representatives from the Asian Network for Free Elections and Commonwealth election observers.

The Election Commission Chairman, R.M.A.L. Ratnayake, stated that election observers from nine other countries will begin their monitoring work today, following an invitation from the commission.

These include representatives from SAARC countries and Russia. After the election, they are expected to submit a report to the Election Commission.

The Election Commission also mentioned that all necessary preparations for the election have been completed.

Instructions have been issued to all state officials, and all ballot boxes have been dispatched to the relevant returning officers across the island.

The ballot boxes will be distributed to polling stations next Friday. Due to the larger size of the ballot papers this time, the Election Commission has decided to use cardboard boxes instead of wooden ones.
