Police warn public against circulating misleading videos

The Police Media Division has announced that various video clips related to incidents that occurred at different times and locations across the country are currently circulating on social media.

These include footage of individuals being searched while traveling to Katunayake Airport and videos captured during curfew periods.

The statement warned that the circulation of such videos on social media could lead to misunderstandings, as past events are being portrayed as current occurrences, misleading the public. This could hinder the maintenance of law and order in the country.

The police have urged the public to refrain from sharing or posting sensitive videos without proper knowledge or verification.

Legal action will be strictly enforced against those sharing videos that pose a potential threat to national security.
