60,000 police officers to be deployed for special duties
60,000 police officers will be deployed for special duties and security during the upcoming presidential election on Saturday.
Although the initial plan was to deploy 54,000 officers, the number has been increased to 60,000.
Police Media Spokesperson, Deputy Inspector General Nihal Thalduwa said that the increase in the number of officers is aimed at ensuring a free and fair election.
Members of the Special Task Force will also be deployed for election duties.
