President Ranil Wickremesinghe stated that his goal is to bring the value of the US dollar down to 275 Sri Lankan rupees. Due to the increase in foreign reserves, a temporary ban on vehicle imports has been lifted, allowing vehicle imports to resume from next year.

He warned that if the National People’s Power’s proposals are implemented, the situation could become worse than in May 2022, potentially requiring 500 rupees to purchase one dollar.

Opposition Leader and presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa from the Samagi Jana Balawegaya stated that a strong program aimed at alleviating poverty will be implemented within two years. He made this announcement during a public meeting in Baddegama.

the Senkadagala area of Kandy, also highlighting his commitment to safeguarding Hindu religious traditions and traditional agriculture.
