Education sector in Sri Lanka due to the past activities of the JVP –

President Ranil Wickramasinghe there had been a 10-year setback in the education sector in Sri Lanka due to the past activities of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP).

The President stated today that a significant percentage of young people in Sri Lanka are weak in English as a result of the JVP’s opposition to his proposal to provide English education to all schoolchildren.

Presenting a special statement on behalf of the youth community in this country today the President also recalls that the JVP put chains on the legs of the youth when he was trying to inspire the youth.

He also recollected that JVP killed the Vice-Chancellors and lecturers in many universities during the insurgency period. .

Meanwhile, Police have arrested a guy at a of President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s public gathering in the Santhiveli region of Batticaloa today for possessing a live bullet.

The live bullet, which is used for 84S in the weapon, was found inside the wallet of the arrested 24-year-old male.

However, the youth had claimed that he picked up the bullet which was found on a road around 2 years ago. Police said that the arrested suspect will be produced before the court tomorrow.
