Commissioner General of elections Saman Sri Rathnayake said that no any violent activities have been reported.

Postal voting is being conducted in 196 centres in the Polonnaruwa district. 19 858 voters have been registered in the district.

Our correspondents say that the state workers are  casting their  postal votes in an enthusiastic manner.  The PAFFREL organisation said that more than 900 officials of  their organisation have been deployed for the postal voting monitoring activities.

The European union election monitoring are engaged in election observation activities in the  northern province.  They paid attention on the public rallies conducted by various political parties.

They held discussions with  journalists in Vavuniya.  They pointed out that election violence in the Northern Province are at a minimal level.
