The President assured that measures would be taken to strengthen the economy
President Ranil Wickremesinghe stated that the people should decide whether Sajith Premadasa and Anura Dissanayake, who left the country without facing challenges when the public suffered in the past, are suitable to move the country forward.
He noted that when he took over the government in July 2022, his first action was to provide necessary fertilizers to farmers. He added that he worked to increase the country’s rice production by successfully implementing this initiative.
President Wickremesinghe shared these views during his participation in a Sri Lanka Victory Rally held in Batticaloa, Eravur, yesterday afternoon. The rally saw a large turnout representing all segments of the population.
Regarding the issues faced by the Muslim community related to land donations, the President mentioned that new laws will be introduced to allow those who wish to donate land, and those who prefer to have it used for cremation or donated to a medical institution.
He stated that a Cabinet paper will be presented next week to enact these laws. Additionally, he announced that a committee will be appointed to compensate those affected by the situation.
The President also assured that measures would be taken to strengthen the economy through proper economic planning and to reduce the cost of goods.
