The National Building Research Organization has issued landslide warnings
The National Building Research Organization has issued landslide warnings for six districts across the country. According to the notifications, second-level landslide warnings have been issued for the several following areas:
Galle District: Aluthgama, Neluwa, Yakkalamulla
Kalutara District: Nagoda
Kegalle District: Dehiowita, Ruwanwella, Bulathkohupitiya, Warakapola, Yatiyantota, and Deraniyagala
Ratnapura District: Kalawana, Elapatha, Kirriella, Eheliyagoda, Nivitigala, Ayagama, Kuruvita, and Ratnapura
First-level landslide warnings have been issued for the following areas:
Colombo District: Seethawaka
Kalutara District: Palindanuwara, Mathugama, Agalawatta, Horana, Dodangoda, and Walallawita
Kegalle District: Aranayaka, Galigamuwa
Nuwara Eliya District: Ambagamuwa
Ratnapura District: Palmadulla
These warnings are effective until 4:00 PM today.
In the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall has been recorded in the Palugaswewa area of the Puttalam District. Due to the unstable atmospheric conditions near Sri Lanka, the Meteorological Department expects the current rainfall situation to continue in the south-eastern regions of the country. Heavy rainfall exceeding 100 millimetres may occur in some locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Southern Provinces.
