The President vowed to expedite investigations into the Easter Sunday attacks.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake vowed to expedite investigations into the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks. Visiting to St. Sebastian’s Church Katuwapitiya today the President assured victims’ families that justice will be delivered soon.

The President also emphasized that such a tragedy must never happen again and stressed the importance of a fair, transparent investigation. He also said that the security background of the country is being prepared to prevent such a tragedy from happening again in this country.

He added at the presidential election, the public’s political decision was influenced by their expectations of justice and fairness following the Easter attack.

The President also said that a systematic examination of the Easter attack should be conducted with an open mind and openness to find out the truth behind the attack.

He said necessary instructions have been given to the Secretary to the Public Security for in this regard. It should also be investigated whether such an attack has taken place for targeting a narrow political purpose the president aaded.
