
IMF states that the new government has built credibility among investors
The International Monetary Fund states that the new government has built credibility among investors within a short period of a week.
Mr. Anil Jayantha Fernando, President’s Senior Adviser on Economic Affairs and Finance, told the National Radio that in the preliminary discussion held yesterday with the representatives of the International Monetary Fund, confidence has been built in the market and among local and foreign investors due to the measures taken by the government in a very short period of time.
It is a very good foundation for the future economic development of this country. In yesterday’s discussion with representatives of the International Monetary Fund, attention was paid to basic technical matters.
The Sri Lankan representatives also mentioned that they will work to implement the future plans of the country while staying within the basic objectives of the IMF. Mr. Anil Jayantha Fernando mentioned that the discussion focused on taking action to reduce the pressure on the public.
