SDIG of Police Priyantha Weerasuriya has been appointed as Acting IGP. 

Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasuriya has been appointed as Acting Inspector General of Police with effect from yesterday, Police Media Division said.

He has more than 36 years of service experience in the Sri Lanka Police Department starting his career as a Police Constable in 1988 and was promoted as a Sub Inspector in 1992.

He is a senior officer who has worked his way up from the position of Police Constable to the position of SDIG.

Accordingly, SDIG Priyantha Weerasuriya who is currently serving as the SDIG in charge of the North Central Province has been appointed as the Acting IGP by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
