The presidential candidate of the NPP, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, promises to prosecute individuals responsible for spreading false information out of fear of the NPP’s likely triumph.

Addressing a public rally in Mirigama, Dissanayake expressed his intent to pursue legal action against individuals who disseminate misleading claims.

He said that their politics have deteriorated to the point where they can only respond with baseless conspiracy theories.

He contrasted his campaign’s emphasis on national unity with what he called his opponents’ divisive remarks.

He also noted that while Ranil Wickremesinghe and Sajith Premadasa align with regional leaders, his own campaign is grounded in a message of unity that has been a longstanding principle of his party.

He also criticised SJB candidate Sajith Premadasa for focusing on out-dated racial themes, claiming that such techniques are inappropriate for modern politics.
