Indo-Lanka passenger ferry service is operating smoothly
The Indo-Lanka passenger ferry service is operating smoothly with no reported disruptions. Secretary to the Sri Lanka Ports Authority K.D.S. Ruwanchandra stated that the service was running three times a week, with all necessary agencies, including Immigration, Customs, and the Navy, working in unison.
He said that all earlier concerns with Indian authorities had been resolved, and the ferry, operated by IndSri Ferry Services, was continuing its journey as planned.
However, the Sivagangai passenger ship, which was scheduled to sail from Kankesanturai to Nagapattinam, India, on 5 September, had cancelled its voyage due to a fuel shortage, affecting 103 passengers.
Passengers had been offered an alternative travel date and the ferry service between the two countries had recommenced on Friday.
