US are attempting to get an order from the American Court against Sri Lanka.
Foreign business creditors in the United States are attempting to get an order from the American Court against Sri Lanka. They stated Sri Lanka should make a clear announcement regarding whether or not it will repay its debt by the 15th of this month.
American Hamilton Bank has filed 2 cases against Sri Lanka as Sri Lanka has to pay 732 million dollars to US foreign creditors. However, due to membership in the International Monetary Fund, the hearing of that lawsuit was temporarily halted.
But those creditors have demanded an order to pay the debt. According to United National Party Colombo District Organizer Nishantha Sri Varnasinghe, President Ranil Wickramasinghe and the Governor of the Central Bank have stated that the amount required will be paid within this month.
