Parliament was dissolved with effect from last midnight.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has issued a Gazette Extraordinary dissolving Parliament with effect from last midnight.

Accordingly, the general election will be held on the 14th of November, and the nominations for the upcoming election will be accepted from the 4th to 11th of  October.

Following the election, the new Parliament is scheduled to convene on November 21.
