South Asia’s largest automobile assembly plant will be inaugurated
The largest automobile assembly plant in South Asia will be inaugurated today under the patronage of President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
United National Party Deputy Leader Akila Viraj Kariyawasam revealed this during a press conference held at his residence in Kuliyapitiya yesterday.
He recalled that the Volkswagen car manufacturing plant had faced various allegations during the previous government.
The plant will be operated by Western Auto Mobiles, with the capacity to assemble 25 vehicles per day. In addition to cars, four types of vehicles, including vans and double cabs, will also be assembled.
