A person cannot vote using both a cross and a digit at the election.

The Election Commission says, voters can cast the vote by marking a cross in the relevant place of ballet paper in the presidential election.

The Election Commission said that there is also the possibility of marking the preferences used in voting according to the Electoral Act.

Accordingly, the voter can vote by using the digit 1,2 and 3  according to their preference for the candidates.

The Election Commission emphasized that people cannot vote using both a cross and a digit, and if they do, their ballots will be rejected.

The Election Commissionner Saman Sri Rathnayake emphasized that legal action will be taken against those who disclose the candidate who voted during the marking of the vote.

The Election Commissionner also stated that the laws have been revised so that the head of institutions that refuse to allow staff to vote in the presidential election may face jail time or a fine.

According to the Election Commissioner, such a person may be punished to one month in prison or a two lakh rupee fine.
