Sri Lanka bags nine medals in one day

Sri Lankan athletes secured nine medals, including three gold, three silver, and three bronze, on the opening day of the South Asian Junior Athletics Championships 2024 in Chennai, India.

Merone Wijesinghe won gold in the Men’s 100m, with Dineth Weeraratna taking silver.

Tharushi Abeyshika claimed gold in the Women’s 800m, while Sansala Himashini took bronze.

Savindu Avishka won gold in the Men’s 800m, and Shanella Anne Wijetungage earned bronze in the Women’s 100m.

Jayavi Ranhidha won bronze in Men’s shot put with a distance of 15.62m.
