Srilanka would suffered the same fate as BANGLADESH – President

President Ranil Wickramasinghe said when Former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse resigned from his position in 2022, TNA parliamentarian M A Sumandiran requested the opposition leader Sajith Premadasa to taka over the premiership, but he refused and ran away.

President further said that he who came forward finally to take over the reins of the country. If he had not undertaken that responsibility at tghat time, then Sri Lanka would have become another BANGLADESH.The president made these remarks at an election rally held at Dompe – Bus depot premises yesterday.

Aggressing the gathering , the president further said as a one and only parliamentarian , when he took over the country, many parties and parliamentarians have extended their support in the best possible way.

The present economic progress and revival should be further strengthened. A systematic mechanism will be devised to reduce the cost of living of the common masses, the president added.
