A new program to eradicate poverty, including the cooperative sector – Sajith Premadasa

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa stated that a new program to eradicate poverty, including the cooperative sector, will be launched. He mentioned that this initiative would be more systematic and robust than the “Janasaviya” program initiated by former President Ranasinghe Premadasa.

He made these remarks while attending a meeting with cooperative industry and trade representatives in Colombo yesterday. The cooperative banking system will be strengthened.

Under a new government, plans are in place to shift towards an export-oriented economic development. Sajith Premadasa pointed out that the role assigned to the cooperative sector would not be insignificant.
