China offers a grant of two million US dollars to fully digitize education in the Island. Sri Lanka has received the grant through the intervention of Education Minister Susil Premajayantha.

In its first phase, 500 schools are to be digitized. The first phase will be operational from January next year. For that, the Chinese government will provide thousands of smart boards to Sri Lanka.

In addition to this, the Minister of Education stated that the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission will provide the provision for another thousand smart boards, while joining the program held in his ministry to inform the education officials about school digitization.
