Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi has decided to support President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi has decided to support President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is contesting the Election as an independent candidate.

She stated that she reached this decision based on the requests of the majority of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna members and supporters in the Ratnapura District.

Meanwhile, a collective of Tamil parties has nominated former Tamil National Alliance MP for the Batticaloa district, P. Ariyanethran, as the common Tamil candidate to contest the presidential election, former MP M.K. Sivajilingam said.

The parties involved in his nomination are the People’s Liberation Organization of Tamil Eelam, Tamil National Liberation Organization, Eelam People’s Revolutionary Liberation Front, the Tamil National Party and Tamil Makkal Kootany.
