The country has lost a sum of 1.2 billion US dollars due to so called VFS visa deal – Sajith Premadasa

Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa says that the country has lost a sum of 1.2 billion US dollars due to so called VFS visa deal. The government has granted power of issuing visa to foreigners to a private company without following proper tender procedures.

The Supreme Court has issued an interim injunction against this decision. Addressing a public rally in Hanguranketha today, Sajith Premadasa said that it was the SJB that sought the help of the supreme courts to stop this controversial deal. He also paid his respect to the supreme courts for ruling out this deal.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress has decided to offer its conditional support to Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa in the Presidential Election.

SLMC leader MP Rauff Hakeem said this decision has been reached during the party’s Supreme Council meeting held today.

Speaking to the media following the discussion, Hakeem stated that accordingly, the SLMC will hold a discussion with Premadasa in the near future and that they expect to reach agreements on certain matters with him
