Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva says the SLFP has decided to support President for country’s sake.

Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) acting Chairman, Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said that the SLFP decided to support Ranil Wickremesinghe at the upcoming Presidential Election thinking about the country rather than the party. The Minister stated that in making this decision, he discussed with all the groups of the party for more than four hours and everyone came to an agreement to support the President while preserving the identity of the party.

The Minister further said that a series of proposals prepared by an expert committee of the party was also presented to President Ranil Wickremesinghe and the President mentioned that he would pay close attention to it while preparing his manifesto.

Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva told the media that a unanimous agreement had been reached by the party’s politburo, the executive council and the district organisers to support the President.
