Over 100 temporarily suspended large-scale projects restarted.

Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said that 171 large-scale projects that were temporarily stopped due to the Corona epidemic and the economic crisis have been restarted.

It has been mentioned in the announcement that 58 of these projects are planned to be completed before the end of 2025. Projects related to drinking water, health and education, roads are expected to be completed within this year.

The 171 projects currently in operation include 2 new foreign grant projects, 3 foreign loan projects, and 8 projects in the form of 3 locally funded projects.

It was further stated that according to the reports of the Ministry of Finance, the number of projects expected to be completed next year is 113, including those 8 projects.

Many large-scale projects in the country have been stopped midway due to the situation of the Covid epidemic and the severe economic crisis that followed, including projects implemented on foreign aid and loans.
