The President says if another difficult era were to arise
President Ranil Wickremesinghe visited the headquarters of the Vallawatte Amarapura Maha Nikaya headquarters yesterday.
During his visit, President Wickremesinghe received blessings from the Chief Prelate of the Nikaya Most Venerable Karagoda Uyangoda Maithri Mūrthi thera. The thera chanted Seth Pirith and bestowed blessings upon the President.
Subsequently, the President engaged in a brief discussion with the Maha Sangha regarding the current economic, social, and political conditions.
The ‘Puluwan Sri Lanka’ Public Rally was held yesterday at the Ananda Samarakoone open air theatre in Nugegoda.
Addressing the gathering, the President remarked that if another difficult era were to arise, notable figures such as Sajith Premadasa and Anura Kumara Dissanayake might withdraw. The President stated that the expectation from the Possible Sri Lanka political platform is solely to save the country.
He also noted that those outside of this sphere are only interested in gaining political benefits, even if it means the people suffer. Leaders who did not consider the plight of the people are now asking the public to appoint them as President.
He emphasized that a leader who has stood with the people during their time of trouble should be chosen as the next President. Some leaders promise to reduce prices and provide tax relief from the stage, but they must explain how they will generate the necessary funds for these measures.
The President highlighted that his goal is to create better living conditions and build a promising future for children.
