The second interpretation of the Dimbulagala inscription has now been completed.
Commissioner General Polonnaruwa Archaeological site Prof. Thusita Mendis says that the second interpretation of the Dimbulagala inscription has now been completed. He stated that this is the largest inscription found in this country, measuring 10 feet in height and 48 feet in breadth.
Prof. Thusita Mendis said a panel of four scholars had been appointed for this work. He added apart from this, the Archaeological department had received contributions from the Post Graduate Institute of Archeology in this regard.
According to Commissioner General Polonnaruwa, the inscription was successfully deciphered, revealing a great deal of information. He said that it offers crucial data about the ancient era’s politics, economics, and trade.
Mr. Mendis stated that the necessary information will be released to the media on the 10th of next month.
