Domestic water tariff reduction by 7%

The government has taken measures to reduce the water tariff for domestic consumers by 7 percent. A gazette has been published reducing the water tariff for government hospitals by 4.5 percent and for temples and places of religious importance by 6.3 percent.

The relevant gazette notification has been issued by Water Supply and Estate Infrastructure Development Minister Jeevan Thondaman and the new tariff revision will be effective from August 21.

Apart from the Samurdhi beneficiary and estate houses, the domestic and condominium category, Schools, Religious, Government Approved Charitable Institutions and Other Nonprofit Organizations category are included in this new water tariff revision.
