Solar panels have been set up in Buddhist viharas and Pirivens in Sri Lanka

The Indian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka Santosh Jha’s said that solar panels have been set up in 4,000 Buddhist viharas and 800 Pirivens in Sri Lanka.

Solar power panels will be fixed to another 3,000 Buddhist Viharas in the  future.

He also stated that the government of India has commenced several projects in Sri Lanka for the  welfare of the country.   He made these remarks when he met the Maha Natyakas of  Malwathu and Asgiri chapters.

They hope to provide this facility to 5,000 Viharas and Pirivenas.
