The Ports Authority to launch an investigation regarding fire in the ship.

The Sri Lanka Ports Authority has stated that the fire that broke out on a ship in the port of Colombo early this morning has been extinguished.

Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva instructed the Ports Authority to launch an investigation regarding the fire that broke out on a ship anchored in the Colombo Port.

A sudden fire had broken out on board a ship anchored in the Colombo Port and the fire brigade of the port had managed to extinguish the flames.

The ship belonging to a shipping company in Geneva, Switzerland had arrived at the Colombo Port from Singapore.

The Ports Authority said  995 containers were scheduled to be unloaded from the ship in question while another 880 containers were to be loaded onto the ship.
