18 candidates run for the presidential election thus far.

A total of 18 candidates including incumbent President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka and Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe have placed their deposits with the Election Commission thus far.

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna says that its presidential candidate will be announced tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Tamil Progressive Alliance led by MP Mano Ganesan has decided to support Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa at the upcoming Presidential Election.

Speaking to the media, MP Ganesan said that they have reached a Memorandum of Understanding with the ‘Samagi Jana Sandhanaya’ led by the Opposition Leader, to pledge their support in the 2024 Presidential Poll.

Leader of the National People’s Power MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake has placed deposits at the Election Commission this morning to contest the upcoming Presidential Election.
