Historic Kandy Esala Perahera commences

The Sri Dalada Esala Perahera of the Scared Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy commenced with the ‘Kap Planting’ ceremony yesterday.

 After completing the five internal peraharas of the Devalaya’s, the first Kumbal Perahara is scheduled to parade the streets on the 10^th of August.

 The Randoli Perahera will begin on the 15^th August and the final Randoli Maha Perahera will be held on the 19^th August.

 After the final Randoli Maha Perahara, the next morning the water-cutting ceremony will be held at Gatambe. The Esala Perahera festival in Kandy will come to an end after the noon Perahera street tour on the 20^th August.
