Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka places deposit for the election.

Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka has made a cash deposit today to contest the 2024 Presidential Election as an independent candidate. Mr Dhammika Ratnayake deposited the money on his behalf.

In the meantime, it has been decided to present former MP Siripala Amarasinghe as an independent candidate for the presidential election, representing the Center of Joint Independent Trade Unions. Accordingly, the bond was placed for him today.

Acceptance of postal voting applications for the presidential election ends today. The relevant applications should be completed and sent to the election office after being certified by the head of the institution. So far, 14 candidates have deposited security for the presidential election.
