Government has taken measures to double check “Aswasuma” beneficiaries

The Government has taken measures to double check “Aswasuma” beneficiaries and provide relief for the victims of injustice.

Secretary to the Ministry of Social Security and Media Ranjith Ariyaratne, told SLBC that minister Vijitha Herath  has instructed to appoint a committee to conduct a study and report on the matter.

He said, a ten member committee has already been appointed to study the reasons behind the issue.  

He added that it is clear that there are a large number of people all over the island who have received the benefits of Samurdhi but have lost the opportunity of getting the Aswasuma” beneficiaries.

He said, however, that they are truly deserved to have those benefits. He added that the Government also admits that, it has been proven there is a problematic situation in the issue according to the reports received by the Divisional sectaries.

The relevant report is to be handed over to the minister before the 15 of December.
