President Anura Kumara Dissanayake says that he will further strengthen the country’s democracy and create a state where the people can live happily.
In the past short period, the current government was able to initiate many achievements for the people. This new political culture started must be carried forward.
Addressing a public meeting held yesterday at the Matara Uyanwatta Stadium, the President said that the only goal is to build a law-abiding democratic country free from fraud, corruption, and waste.
The strongest government in this country will be formed after the 14th next month. The President mentioned that the current government will demand a mandate from the people at the general election in order to carry forward the victory achieved in the presidential election.
The president further says that media institutions of the country must also have responsibility in strengthening democracy.
Some media institutes deliberately carry out false and baseless news to discredit the government. The president ask them to cast out their old and ugly addictions and come forward to create a people friendly media culture.
