Easter attacks: Politicians are requested not to interfere with the formal investigations

The spokesperson of the His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, Rev. Father Cyril Gamini has requested politicians not to interfere with the formal investigations regarding the Easter Sunday attacks.

As requested by successive governments, the present government has started a formal investigation in this regard.

Different people make different statements to the media in order to gain political advantage. Politicians are among the first people to obstruct the investigation of the Easter attack.

Father Cyril Gamini points out that the politicians issuing certain statements are persons who held ministerial positions during the many years of former president Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s government.

At that time, Father Cyril Gamini told the National Radio that they did not raise any voice about these investigation reports or the implementation of the related recommendations.

Politicians cannot investigate the Easter attack. A formal inspection team has been appointed for that. Therefore, Father Cyril Gamini makes a request that he requests them to provide space for the investigation teams without hindering them.

Also, people are requested not to be fooled by the statements made by such politicians in front of the media.
