MP must declare their assets and liabilities within two years.

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has mandated that Members of Parliament must declare their assets and liabilities within two years of their retirement.

The Commission said the requirement is made in line with the newly enacted Anti-Corruption Act. The Commission stated that the initial report of these declarations is to be submitted to Parliament within two weeks.

Accordingly, former parliamentarians will have a two-year period to disclose their additional assets and liabilities.

However, number of former Members of Parliament has chosen not to contest in the upcoming general election.
