The President focuses on investment and trade with Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh.

The Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Khalid Hamoud Nasser Aldasam Alkahtani, met with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake today at the Presidential Office. During the meeting, the ambassador conveyed the congratulations of King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia regarding Dissanayake’s election victory.

They discussed the current situation in the region, as well as the friendship and cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka. Al-Dosari praised the long-term support and continuous cooperation between the two nations, highlighting the importance of increasing Sri Lanka’s tea exports to Saudi Arabia. They also discussed strengthening economic ties between the two countries, emphasizing the need for a national policy to attract investors to Sri Lanka and creating a favourable environment for investment.

In a separate meeting earlier today at the Presidential Office, Bangladesh High Commissioner Andalib Elias extended his congratulations to President Dissanayake on his victory.

He also conveyed the best wishes of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Mohammad Yunus. During this meeting, they discussed the current state of affairs between the two countries, focusing on Sri Lankan investments in Bangladesh and the significant Sri Lankan workforce in the country. The importance of further strengthening economic relations was emphasized.

Both parties assured that they would work to strengthen the existing bilateral trade agreement between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh to enhance trade and economic relations. Special attention was given to expanding cooperation in various sectors and further developing the close bilateral ties between the two nations.
