The Sri Lanka Army celebrates its 75th anniversary today.

The Sri Lanka Army is celebrating its 75th anniversary today. The army was established on October 10, 1949 as the oldest and largest armed forces in the country.

The first Army Commander was Brigadier Sir Kothnes. He served in that position till May 17, 1952. The army currently consists of 25 regiments.
