Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Nishantha Wickramasinghe says that the fertilizer subsidy of 25,000 rupees provided to farmers for the Maha season will be directly credited to farmers’ accounts from the 20th of this month.
For that, the ministry has received 2000 million rupees from the treasury.
Accordingly, an amount of 25 thousand rupees per hectare will be credited to the farmers’ accounts between the 20th and the 30th, and the amount will meet the fertilizer requirement of the farmers in the Maha season.
It is planned to cultivate eight hundred thousand hectares of paddy in the coming season. The secretary also mentioned that the fertilizer required to meet the needs of the farmers are available in warehouses.
