Today is International day of Right to Information. In 2002, the day was announced according to the resolution adopted in Bulgaria.
Sri Lanka is the 111th country in the world to pass the Freedom of Information Act. On June 24, 2016, the Right to Information Bill was passed in Parliament.
It is effective from February 3, 2017. Sri Lanka’s Act has been evaluated as the 7th best Freedom of Information Act in the world.
