The Galle International Stadium will officially join the record book
The second Test cricket match between Sri Lanka and New Zealand is now being played in Galle International Cricket Stadium.
The Sri Lankan team, batting first, had scored 76 runs for the loss of one wicket when the play was halted for lunch. Dinesh Chandimal remains not out at 60 runs.
The Galle International Stadium will officially join the record book as the venue that has hosted the most Test matches in Sri Lanka. Today’s match marks the 46th Test match at this venue, surpassing the previous record of 45 matches held at the SSC ground in Colombo.
The P. Saravanamuttu Stadium has hosted 22 matches, while the Asgiriya Stadium has seen 21 matches. Both the R. Premadasa Stadium and the Pallakele Stadium have hosted 9 matches each.
Additionally, the Tirunelveli Stadium has held 4 Test matches, and the CCC grounds have hosted 3.
