A special awareness program to be implemented – E.C

The Election Commission says that it will implement a special program to make aware to all voters, regarding the presidential election.

In the first phase, posters will be used to inform about the method of voting such as producing a valid ID card to confirm their identity.

It also explains the code of conduct to be followed at the polling stations. This will be implemented in the next two days.

Meanwhile, Police Media Spokesperson DIG Nihal Talduwa said, that 63 thousand police personnel will be deployed from the 20th to the 22nd for election duties.

In addition, 3,000 army personnel, 12,000 civil defence forces and 2,500 special task forces will be deployed to support the police.

He made this remark at a press conference held today.  It was further mentioned that the police have been given full authority to prevent violation of election laws that will contravene national security.
